"Hope in South Africa provides a safe place for children and youth in our community. Drugs and alcohol are some of the biggest issues we contend with, here in Richmond. I want to make a difference and support my community. That’s why I’m a Grassroot soccer coach."
"Working at the soup kitchen is very fulfilling for me. I look forward to the children coming by to say hello. There is a special bond that grows as you see these children throughout the week. In some cases, this could be a child's only meal for the day."
"As AIDS Outreach Program Coordinator, my responsibility is to visit and monitor the health of all the HIV positive patients in Richmond who are not yet on anti-retroviral medications, see to their needs, and encourage them. I hold a weekly support group for patients, work at the health clinic, and help out daily at the soup kitchen – but my home visits are the most important."
