Music Program at Richmond Community Center - We Need Your Help!

Posted in: Community Center Computer Lab, Richmond Community Center

Please take a moment to read this message from the Joel Tjornehoj, President, HISA Board of Directors.

Hope in South Africa supporters,

I am very excited to let you know that next month four professional musicians from the Boston area will be traveling with me to Richmond to work with our staff at the Center to run a week-long music training program for  area musicians and a wonderful music camp for the children at the Center.  It is going to be an incredible week of music enjoyment and the kick-off of an ongoing relationship between these musicians from SoulCove Center for the Arts (http://www.soulcovecfa.org/) and our music staff at the Center. I have attached information about the members of SoulCove and please take a moment to view the video at this site (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/global-resonance) to learn about their goals for this trip.

Now comes the ask…

I asked the travelers to provide me with a list of items they need for their camp and for the ongoing music program at the Center.  Listed below are the items they would like and you can see there is a wide range of needs.  Since there will be 4 of them traveling (so there will be 8 bags) I recommend that if you would like to order the items, you have them sent directly to Rach Azrak, the Executive Director of SoulCove, at the following address Rach Azrak, 34 Pembroke St., Newton, MA 02458. Rach and her group leave the States on March 14, so you will need to order the items right away. Also, I have copied Rach and her group on this email (soulcovecfa@gmail.com) and suggest that you let them know what you have ordered so they can watch for it.

Part of the program they will be doing in Richmond is adding a music technology component to our work. The items they need for that part of their program, including mikes, stands, and software would probably be better purchased by them.  If you would like to send in a monetary donation to Hope for the music program (Hope in South Africa, PO Box 308, Poolesville, MD 20837), please do so right away so we can let the musicians know what is available for their purchases.

Thanks for your support and please share all of this information with anyone you think who might be interested in this music adventure.
